The Home Stretch!

Okay so I haven't been the best at keeping up on my bloggness, but things have been so busy! We had storms that knocked our power out for FIVE DAYS. Then my mom and I took my grandmother (who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's within the last year) up to Jersey to visit family. Then she decided she wanted to live with my mom and dad instead of my aunt. My sister's girlfriend is in visiting, too. So needless to say it's just been a little wild around here. My boy is getting sooo big. I'll add some photos at a later date. He weighs over 15lbs now and my husband got to see him smile for the first time on Skype today. It made him cry and it just broke my heart. I know he wants to be home so badly.

One that note! Deployment is almost over!!! The baby and I move back to NC next month and shortly after that AJ should be home. I'm ordering the most adorable welcome home tank and onesy I designed for the baby and myself :-)

I hope this finds everyone doing well and more updates soon!

June Birchbox!

This months BB is killer! I got a great box including a full size Stila liquid bronzer retailing for $38 - which is awesome because I only pay $10 per month for this little pink box of surprises.

This months box theme is Jet Set and the idea is that these products travel well and are long lasting.

Other items include:

Two Comodynes Self Tanning Towelettes
Stila One Step Bronze
theBalm cosmetics Stainiac Lip & Cheek Stain in Beauty Queen
Sample Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift
LUNA bar mini

I'm excited about trying them out, Birchbox is like a little present I give myself each month :-)

IF: Shiny

This weeks theme: shiny!

Now Maria can read what her teacher writes on the chalk board, thanks to her shiny new glasses!

I'll have my illustration blog up and running within the next few weeks - it's all I can do to get any work done at all with the baby. Thank God for his naps, haha.

Illustration Friday: Hurry

When I thought about this weeks theme word "hurry" I immediately thought about what it was like to have to run to catch the bus for school when I was a kid. If we missed it than our Mom had to take the time out of her day to drive us, so we definitely hurried!

The quality in this size is not the greatest :( the original is huge.

Happy First Month, Gabriel!

Maybe I'm a bit
biased when I say,

"Cutest baby EVER."

Okay, so make that completely and totally biased, but it's still oh-so true.

Today our Gabriel is one month old! My mom told me that the time would fly by, and it really has. This is the fastest it's gone by since AJ left, actually. Here's to hoping that the rest of the deployment will go as fast. I got the rental application for the new condo today! I've got to fill it out and send in the proper checks to get us on the list for August  - at least that's when Gabe and I will be going down. Hopefully AJ will be there shortly thereafter.

As you can see, to the left, are a few of Gabe's baby pictures. I had them done at Sears (as you can also see by the watermark, ha). He was so good and I was super proud of him. Mom and I even grabbed dinner at Chedder's afterwards and he was a doll the entire time. I'm pretty damned lucky, although he didn't feel well last night and fussed a good bit with me but as soon as my mom takes him he's fine. Experience wins out I guess.

I got both my May Lookbag and Birchbox -  I was super impressed with the Lookbag. Birchbox was decent considering it was Gossip Girl themed and I've never watched the show. Not my cup of tea, really. I'll be doing reviews on both of those soon, I swear.

I've just got time for that quick update, I really wanted to share some of Gabe's baby photos :)

More later!

A lazy, rainy day.

Sleep. I finally feel like I'm getting a little more sleep. Thanks, in part, to my mom who will watch Gabe for a couple hours while I grab a nap, and also to my son who is sleeping in longer stretches throughout the night.  I'm hoping that by three months he will be sleeping almost all the way through. *crosses fingers*

It's so nice outside, I really miss sitting on the front porch with my Marlboro 27s. I know, I know. Smoking is BAD. And I had quit, actually, a couple weeks before we even found out I was pregnant. Cold turkey - they were making me seriously nauseated. But I miss them. I think it might be mainly a social thing, both my mom and my sister smoke, as well as the majority of our friends. I have no problems not being able to have a beer with lunch, or not having a drink at all. It's the ciggarettes I miss. *sigh* I know I can't because I'm breastfeeding, not to mention it brings down Gabes chances of having asthma, or ear infections, etc. But I just really REALLY want a ciggarette. My husband is gone, I spend almost all day exclusively with the baby because my family works (don't get me wrong, I love spending time with my son) but it would be nice to just have those few minutes all to me ciggarette time like I used to. It sounds awful of me, I know. Instead of Earl Grey and smokes, I get Earl Grey and a double fudge stuff cookie, hah.

Speaking of weight I'm within 10 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight. Gabe will be 3 weeks old this Wed. so I've got 3 more weeks until I can start exercising. I can't wait.

I really miss my AJ. I guess I didn't realize how difficult it would be handling the baby on my own. I've got my mom, yeah, but she's got her own things to do as well. I feel pretty alone sometimes without him. I can't wait until he gets home. He sent us a DVD the other day of him reading If You Give a Mouse a Cookie to the baby. It was wonderful. We watched it like, twelve times.

Gabriel is growing so fast. I keep looking at him and thinking "That giant thing came out of me?!" I feel like he gets bigger every day. I love all of the little noises he makes, and I've never had the feeling I have when he smiles. It's got to be the most amazing thing I've ever seen - I wish I could snap a picture of it, but I can't manage to get to my phone in time.

I got my May Julep Maven box, and honestly, it's a goodie.  Everything that comes in this box is extremely high quality and honestly, worth the 20 bucks a month.

My beauty profile is Classic with a Twist and this is what I recieved this month:

Medium sized black quilted make up bag: REALLY nice. what I love about it is that it's got pockets on the inside that eye liners and short brushes slide right into. It's nice and spacious.

The Best Pedi Prep Ever: A very awesome roll on pedi (oil?) that you roll onto your feet and leave on for 4-5 minutes before you massage/file.

Silicone Orange Foot Soak: works wonders, although after I used it I had to reapply polish to one of my toes because it faded the colour. Weird right?

Julep Foot File and Massage: awesome. That's it.

The Best Pedi Cream Ever Sample: I wish they would've sent me a larger sample, or even a full size because after using it hours ago, my feel still feel like I just put it on. And I'm almost constantly barefoot.

I still don't know if I'll keep it or not. I'll have to take a look at the June box when the previews come out and make a decision. We'll see.

Here's to hoping that tonight I can get some decent sleep and tomorrow I can  get some laundry done! Here, here!
